I have other outdoor activities before May, but this is
the trip that I consider to be the one that starts the year off. On every
trip home to see Mom I tried to take a new route so I can find new
experiences.
This trip was not what I expected. The weather factor made this trip
shorter, and it added a nice touch as well. I started off a day later than
I wanted. But it was a normal start for me. I left Little Rock about 2:30
PM May 1st. A quick calculation I realized I was going to end up in
Memphis TN at rush hour. But that did not happen three years ago Arkansas
went into a major highway construction a five year plan on every
interstate highway in the state. The normal time it takes me to leave
Little Rock and be in Memphis is to half hours, it took four hours to
leave Arkansas. On this trip by drove to Memphis and turn south into
Mississippi about the distance from Memphis to Little Rock. Close to
sundown pretty girl and I stop for a break in Mississippi. Where I found
this burgundy colored sickle.
From there across Alabama into Georgia. Which was the goal for the night.
The last gasoline stop was in West Memphis Arkansas. And bypassing
Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama I had made into Georgia were
gasoline is cheaper than even Arkansas. There is one more thing I needed
to do for the night I needed to get to the other side of Atlanta Georgia.
Where I could lay my head down the get some sleep for the next day.
It was the right time of year to see sickles. These two are from
Mississippi and North Carolina.
Now we can pick up this story in pictures. The links on the left are for
different parts of this trip. The links on the right are of the Sickles.
All pictures are in the order of which they were taken. Just click on the
